6000 NEW GIRL GUIDES
INCREASE REPORTED TO COUNCIL (New Zealand Press Association) HASTINGS, March 3. If adults showed as much enthusiasm in guiding as did children. the movement would show an even greater increase in membership than the 6000 who had joined last year, said the Dominion Chief Commissioner for Guiding (Miss Ruth Herrick, of Hastings), at the annual Dominion council meeting. The election of officers resulted:

HAMMER AND DISCUS CHAMPIONS TO MARRY (Rec. 10 p.m.) PRAGUE, March 2. The American world and Olympic hammer throw champion Harold Conolly 'announced in Prague today that he would marry the Czechoslovakian Olympic women’s discus champion. Olga Fikotova. They met when they were competing in the Olympic Games in Melbourne last year. Conolly is on a demonstration tour oi Czechoslovakia.
