Recovery, and Sir' Tatton. Two probationary drivers—H. W. Skinner and D. J. McNaught—took the double honours. Skinner, a former jockey, won the main event and first leg of the double, the Invercargill Handicap, with Blue Jay. McNaught showed good judsment to win with Dame Sybil in the second leg, the Autumn Handicap. The winning combination returned £44 18s 6d lor £l. In a day of good racing, the track was hard and fast and the weather fine. The totalisator on-course handled £31,964 ss, a decrease of £4453 15s on the second day last year. Total for the two days was £61.651 10s. compared with £66.605 5s for the 1956 meeting, a decrease of £4953 15s. Results:—
