OBITUARY

MRS N. A. CORBAN (New Zealand Pren Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 24. Mrs Najibie Assid Corban, wife of the late Mr Assid Abraham Corban, of Mount Lebanon vineyards, Henderson, has died in her 86th year. Mr and Mrs Corban were born at Schweir, Mount Lebanon. Mrs Corban came to New Zealand in 1898, to join her husband, who made the trip six years earlier to set up a general store and importing business in Auckland. In 1902, they moved to Henderson and planted what became the largest vineyard in New Zealand. ~ Since the death of her husband in 1941, Mrs Corban has been the guiding influence of a large family. She has a large circle of friends and relatives throughout New Zealand. She is survived by five sons, four daughters, 32 grandchildren and 26 great-grand-children.
