Autumn Meeting At Ashburton

At a meeting of the committee of the Ashburton County Racing Club held yesterday an increase of £250 was made in the stakes for the autumn meeting to be held on May 4 and 11. The stake for the open handicap each day was increased by £5O, and the stake for the Alford Hack Steeplechase was increased by £5O to £3OO.

A canteen of cutlery has been given to the club and this will be alloted to the winner of the Alford Hack Steeplechase. It was decided to nominate Mr J. H. Grigg as district representative to the New Zealand Racing Conference, and to nominate Mr R. J. Mulligan as tfie representative to the Canterbury District Committee.
