SMITHFIELD MARKET
LAMB PRICES WEAKEN
Increased pitchings of frozen lamb met a moderate trade at Smithfield this week, according to the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board’s weekly report from the Imported Meat Trade Association. Prices weakened under the influence of increased supplies. Frozen mutton was quiet. Frozen; beef met a slow trade. The trade in chilled beef improved. With lighter overall pitchings—no New Zealand chilled was quoted—the market was moderately buoyant. Argentine chilled hinds and fores rose to 2d.
