NEW ZEALAND’S LIFTS

Wellington has nearly half of the 707 lifts in New Zealand. The fastest of them, which is in Wellington, moves at 500 feet a minute and the speed of the fastest lift in Australia is 600 feet a minute. The Empire State building in New York has a lift rise of 1200 feet a minute. The new Dairy Board building in Lambton quay, Wellington, will have lifts mobilised on rubber rollers. This will make them noiseless. They will be completely automatic and move at 400 feet a minute. A mile of wire rope will be installed, and nine miles of electrical auxiliary wiring. A weight-loading device will show if the lifts are carrying too much.
