Induction Of Deaconess

For the first time in about 30 years a deaconess will be inducted in a Baptist church in Christchurch, when Sister Claire R. Gilbert is instituted deaconess at Oxford Terrace Baptist Church early next month. Miss Gilbert was previously a 1 mission worker with the United Maori Mission at Kaitaia. North Auckland, and is a trained school teacher. She is also a -well-known singer.

The special induction service will be conducted by the minister of Oxford Terrace Baptist Church (the Rev. Roland Hart) at 11 a.m. on February 3. Mr Hart will be assisted by the Rev. Lawrence A. North and Mr A. R. Jordan, general secretary and president of the Baptist Union of New Zealand.
