PLEDGES SOUGHT
Israel Demand
On Gaza Strip
TEL AVIV, January 19 The Israeli Prime Minister, Mr David Ben Gurion, has demanded clear-cut guarantees for freedom of navigation through the Tiran Strait and against any further use of the Gaza Stcip as a springboard for Arab raids into Israel.
He was speaking last night, on the eve of the United Nations General Assembly vote on an African-Asian resolution which would demand Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the heights dominating the Tiran waterway.
"Mere resolutions by the United Nations are not sufficient. “Israel has had bitter experience of Egyptian wanton violations of international resolutions,”! Mr Ben Gurion told party supporters at the village of GivaatChaim.
