THREE PLAYERS NOW IN LEAD (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 3. Three players, R. Phillips, A. Feneridis, and A. Turner, are now first equal with eight points each in the New Zealand chess championships being played at Wellington. The 14-year-old Phillips, of Auckland, this morning lost the followon of an adjourned game with Feneridis. The fate of the championship depends on the final round to be played tomorrow. Dr. W. Reindler yesterday led the major open at the end of the tenth round with eight points. He has a clear one-point lead over his nearest rivals, I. Hayes and R. O’Callaghan. J Howe has a clear lead of two points in the first-class competition.
