N.S.W. Ties With Victoria (Rec. 9 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Dec. 27 New South Wales and Victoria had a drawn game tetday in the Sheffield Shield match at St. Kilda cricket ground. The score at stumps was:—New South Wales 281 and 160 (Benaud 63; L. Kline six for 57, I. Meckiff four for 56): Victoria. 244 and 197.. The match today was the first tied game in 100 years of cricket between the two States. New South Wales, needing 161 for an outright win on the drying wicket, were all out with 25 minutes of playing time left. Overnight rain had dampened the wicket and surroundings. and pldy began today 75 minutes late. For a while, Victoria appeared heading for an outright win, when New South Wales lost seven wickets for 70 runs. Then, the test partners, Richie Benaud and lan Craig, added a fighting 75 for the eighth wicket, and and game swung in favour of New South Wales. Benaud went for 63. Another wicket fell, and with nine down, J. Burke, who had retired earlier when he broke a bone in the little finger of the right hand, came out to join Craig. The score crept nearer the target, but with the totals exactly level Burke was out, and the match a draw. SOUTH AFRICAN TEAM FOR SECOND TEST (N.Z. South Africa’s cricket selectors have named 13 men from whom their team will be chosen for the second test against England, which will start next Tuesday in Cape Town. The 11 men, playing in the current first test are all Included. So* also is Jack McGlew, nominated earlier as South Africa’s captain for. the series, who had to drop out of the first test with a shoulder injury. The extra man is Eddie Fuller, the Western Province fast bowler. South Africa’s 13 are: Jack McGlew, Trevor Goddard, Headley Keith, Alistair Taylor, Russell Ensign, Roy McLean. John Watkins, Clive van Ryneveld, John Waite, Hugh Tayfield, Peter Heine, Neil Adcock, and Eddie Fuller.
