Drawn Game At Wanganui
(New Zealand Press Association) WANGANUI, Dec. 27. Light but continuous rain prevented further play in the third day of the Wellington v. Central Districts Plunket Shield match today and shortly after 1 p.m. the match was declared abandoned. The result is officially a draw. In its first innings Wellington made 290 and Central Districts lost six wickets for 314 in the first innings. FIRST INNINGS WIN Northern Districts Beat Auckland (New Zealand Press Association) HAMILTON, December 27. Heavy rain today prevented further in the Northern Dis-tricts-Auckland Plunket Shield match and Northern Districts won on the first innings. Overnight scores were: Auckland first innings, 144; Northern Districts, first innings. 258; second innings, 22 without loss. MARY MACHIN SHIELD Canterbury Lead Otago (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, Dec. 27. The Canterbury and Otago second women's cricket teams today commenced a two-day fixture which is part of a series of matches tor the Mary Machin Shield. Changing fortunes characterised the first day’s play. After having a firm grip on the game and a lead on the first innings, Otago now faces a formidable task to dismiss the remaining Canterbury players for low scores and to overtake the substantial lead the visitors now have. Otago made 77 in the first innings. Canterbury made 67, an<4 has lost three for 93 in the second innings.
