OBITUARY
MR A. G. VALENTINE (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, December 26. The death has occurred of Mr A. G. Valentine, secretary of the Pacific Starr-Bowkett Building Society. He was 64. Mr Valentine was born in Timaru, and was educated at the Timaru Boys’ High School. He served with the New Zealand Forces during the First World War, landing at Gallipoli with the Main Body. He was discharged with the rank of lieutenant. Mr Valentine took up farming on his return from overseas, and was for a period in the Mackenzie Country and then at McNab, near Gore. In 1932 he came to Dunedin and joined the staff of the Pacific Starr-Bowkett Building Society. He was appointed secretary of the society about three years ago. Mr Valentine was a member of the Institute of Secretaries. He played first-grade cricket for the Dunedin Cricket Club when he arrived in Dunedin, and in later years played bowls for the Caversham Bowling Club. Mr Valentine is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs C. Melville, and two sons. James and Graham
