Women's Softball Tournament
Eight teams will participate tn I the senior women's interprovincial softball tourament to be held at Rugby Park. Invercargill from January 7 to January 12. The tournament will conclude with the annual inter-isiand match. Last year's champion team. Waikato, will take part in the i tournament, with teams from We!-; ilington. Hutt Valley. Manawatu.| Canterbury. Southland. Otago and the West Coast. All of the North, Island teams are particularly strong this year, and the Canter- ■ bury team will be perhaps the strongest from the South Island. The Canterbury team will include several former South Island repI resentatives. including R. Price. C. | Brown. H. Johnson, L. Parrish, i ; and B. Mackinson. ■ As the captain of the Canterbury team. B. Mackinson can be I relied upon for accurate mediumfast pitching, as well as being a stalwart of the batting. The powerful left-hand batting of the vice- . captain. H. Johnson, is also a valuI able asset to the side, and the 1 catcher. N. Beale, is noted for her strong and accurate pegging to i bases. The team's chaperon will be Mrs M. Mackinson, and the coach |Mr M. R. BelL
