Language Difficulty Overcome. —Hungarian refugees arriving in London, unable to speak English, can make their needs ’ known simply by pointing to a numbered phrase on a card. The cards are usually used in hospitals for communicating with foreign patients. Printed in 22 languages, they have saved lives in hospitals, where doctors have been able to diagnose injuries and illnesses from information given by the patient. They are often used in lifeboats bringing in foreign sailors. —London (Reuter).
