N.Z. MISSION TO LEPERS
£61,300 RAISED IN LAST YEAR The New Zealand Mission to Lepers has more than filled its 1956 financial quota of £60.000. Though returns from the postal appeal were less than usual generous contributions by regular givers just before the close of books brought the total income ot the mission from all sources to fieXV 38 dTiVeS “ d legaCies: than 44,000 sixpences <±,1100) were collected, mostly by young people, in “phials”—the plear plastic containers like threeinch high lighthouses which have just been introduced by the mission. The returns from rag collections have again declined slightly m the North Island but increased in the South Island, driving increased through the mission s 6000 home and counter boxes. More than 6000 knitted Christmas gifts and many cases of clothing and occupational therapy materials have been sent overseas during the year from the mission’s packing centres in Auckland and Christchurch.
