FIRE DAMAGES STORE
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 26.
Fire broke out in the merchandise store of Dalgety and Company, Ltd., in The Strand. Parnell, at 6.45 a.m. today. Damage was confined to the upstairs front of the building, although water spoiled some goods on the ground floor. The fire spread from piles of rags to bales of waste wool. The Chief Fire Officer (Mr G. Drummond) said today that the fire probably started through spontaneous combustion. The building was insured.
