35 Die In Sudden Flood

(Rec. 10 p.m.) RIO DE JANEIRO (Brazil), December 24. Disaster workers today counted 35 dead in a sudden flood which washed over the dairy centre of Passaquatro, 200 miles from Rio de Janeiro. nighty more persons were in the hospital and others were feared to be missing. The flood occurred last Friday, but the news did not reach Rio de Janeiro until yesterday. President Juscelino Kubitschek ordered troops with tractors and searchlights to the scene to dig the town out from mud and debris.
