GIFTS FOR ORPHANS AND OLD PEOPLE

SCOUTS AND GUIDES VISIT HOMES

Rover Scouts and Ranger girl guides paid surprise visits to most orphanages and old people’s homes in Christchurch on Sunday to give toys to the children and flowers to the old people. The contingent of about 40 sang carols to those they visited. While they sang carols outside the Christchurch Cathedral most of their audience listened from the vestibule doorway to shelter from the rain. Money for more than 100 toys was collected within the groups of scouts and guides, and flowers were given by friends.
