CHRISTMAS MESSAGES

Goal Of World Peace PRIMATE ASKS FOR PRAYERS (New Zeal ana Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 23. “Today the world is very troubled,” says the Primate of New Zealand (Archbishop Owen), in a Christmas message. “We are bitterly aware of the tension between the two great camps into which the world is divided, and we know that if it came to a third world war, civilisation might fall into ruin. “The Christian remembers that Christ did not say much about the world problems of His day and He did not allow them to paralyse His actions. He told His followers not to be over-anxious for what might happen tomorrow. “Each of us has enough to do to meet each day’s troubles. We must not allow anxiety to paralyse us. We can and must pray continually for the peace of the world. We must pray that God will overrule the passions of men and guide the nations into sanity.

“Each of us has his responsibility for what is within his reach. We can be peacemakers in our homes and in the places where we work and so help to build peace in our country. We can offer ourselves to be the channels of Christ’s special Christmas gifts of peace and good will,” Archbishop Owen concludes.
