DUTIES: The Division is engaged on the long term investigation of the engineering characteristics of the soils of Australia. This involves regional studies of soil properties affecting the foundation behaviours of buildings and of pavements. Specific interest relates to the study of unsaturated soils and to the concepts and techniques of soil stabilisation. The appointee should preferably have had sufficient experience in a suitable field of soil mechanics to permit him tp undertake responsibility for portion of the Section’s programme.

QUALIFICATIONS: University honours degree in Civil Engineering or Science with Physics as a major subject, or equivalent qualifications, and preferably with appropriate research experience.
