Fifty minutes after he answered the telephone at his home in Auckland, Captain F. Ladd, of Tourist Air Travel, alighted in his amphibian aircraft at a Waiheke Island beach. A woman was taken on board, and at 9 a.m.—two hours after Captain Ladd received the telephone call—a baby was born in St. Helens Hospital.
