POLICE USE BATONS AT PORT. AHURIRI (New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, December 20. Police moved in with drawn batons to stop fighting which broke out at Port Ahuriri last night between Napier youths and visiting overseas seamen. Earlier, swift police intervention had stopped a brief skirmish between two factions in Hastings street, Napier. Police were keeping a close watch on the city streets throughout the evening following fighting which broke out in Emerson street, Napier, on Tuesday night No arrests were made.
