REG HARRIS ARRIVES IN CHRISTCHURCH
FOUR TIMES WORLD CHAMPION
Reg Harris, four times world sprint cycling champion, arrived in Christchurch yesterday afternoon after eight days’ travelling by air from his home in Manchester. In an interview, Harris said he was pleased to be back in New Zealand, and hoped during his six weeks’ stay in the country to see some of its scenic attractions—something he had
been unable to do on his last visit. He was pleased to be engaged to ride again at English Park. He considered this track to be the equal of many overseas tracks. Asked whether he intended again to contest a world title series, Harris said he had gone so close to winning the title last September that he would make another attempt next year. To be in good form for his racing on Saturday evening, Harris intends to do some solid road work today. When asked what races he would prefer' to contest during his tour of New Zealand, Harris said he was prepared to ride in any type of race desired. After being shown the programme for Saturday night, Harris said he would be pleased to ride against Christchurch riders in such a variety of races.
