The weather forecast, issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 27 hours after the time of issue Situation:— A ridge of high pressure lies over central New Zealand. There is a deep depression south-west of the country. Forecast:— Canterbury.—Light to moderate north-east winds predominating and freshening at times on the coast; rain developing in the Alps, but weather otherwise fair and mild; outlook, drizzle or rain likely. Marlborough.—Light to moderate winds from a northerly quarter; weather fair and warm: outlook, rain spreading from the west. West Coast.—Moderate winds from a northerly quarter predominating, cloud increasing, with drizzle and rain developing from the south-west during the day;, temperatures mild; outlook, intermittent rain.
