(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, December 18. Practically total clearance of the 15,932 bales offered was effected at the Newcastle wool sales today. The market ruled firm for all medium to broad quality wools, and fine to medium quality met a keen demand at rates fully firm on yesterday’s. Comebacks and crossbreds sold well up to late rates. Chief buyers were the Continent, Japan, and Britain. Goulburn Sale Prices paid at Goulburn today included: —Good combing, 60’s, 103’yfed; good combing, 56’s, 89 3 , 4 d; good average, combing, 60’s, 81 %d; good average combing, 58’s, 93d. ADELAIDE PRICES FIRM (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) ADELAIDE, December 18. Adelaide woolselling brokers’ prices continued firm at the second day of the fifth Adelaide wool sale today. Fewer quality descriptions were- included in the offering. Main buyers were Eastern European countries, Western Europe, Britain, Japan, and Australian mills. A total of 16,276 bales sold out of an offering of 16,559 bales. Top price for Merino was 108 d for comeback 98 3 ,id and crossbred 89 3 , 4 d. The bulk of today’s offerings came from agricultural and higher rainfall areas of the state, with more wool from the south-east, south, and hills. Price range:—7o’s, 90d to 103’,fed; 64’s, 93d to 98d; 60’s, 87’fed to 108 d; 58 s, 82d to 98 3 z4 d; 56’s, 69%d to 89%d. EXPORT BEEF SCHEDULE The price for boner cow in the export beef schedule which came into force on Monday has been' reduced 5s per 1001 b to 60s. Boner cow was priced at 65s per 1001 b in the opening South Island schedule this season, at 70s from November 19 to December 1, and 65s from December 3. The latest alteration establishes a premium of 25s for boner bull over boner cow, compared with 10s in the opening schedule.
