PARADE OF HOMES
Preference Poll To Be Taken The Parade of Homes Committee yesterday decided that a competition will’ be held in conjunction with the exhibition. A form will be provided in the explanatory booklet on which the entrant will list, in order of preference, the four houses he considers the best. The winner of the competition will be the person whose entry corresponds with the result of the vote. The suggestion of holding the competition was made by the Minister of Housing. It will not be possible to have underground reticulation in the street in which the exhibition will be built as the necessary cable is not procurable in New Zealand and it could not be shipped from overseas in time. The question of the hours during which the exhibition will be open was deferred to the next meeting pending advice from Auckland, where a similar parade was held. Water is now connected to most of the houses, and only one house is net yet started, it was reported. The firm which will build the remaining house has organised its schedule so that a start will be made in the New Year and the building will be completed without delay.
