MEAL CHARGES
Sir,—The article on increased meal charges in Wednesday’s issue is far from a correct statement of the position. The restaurant in'which I dine every Wednesday has this week increased most of its charges by 25 per cent, upwards to cover a wage increase of 5 per cent. In addition, there appears to be a cut in the size of some of the servings. No-one would question a rise of 5 per cent., but 25 is over the odds and action like this will bring about another wage claim in the next six months.—Yours, etc., , ONLOOKER. November 22, 1956.
