CHRISTCHURCH CLUB’S » TEN-MILE RACE

A spirited finish was seen when the Christchurch Cycling Club held its second 10 mile road race last evening. A. Stamper and B. Creelman rode well throughout the race and kept up a very solid pace. Nearing the finish they were together, but in the last few yards Stamper forged ahead to win by half a wheel. A. Shaw was third. The two scratch riders, C. Shaw and J. Wildermoth, made up time and in the final sprint for time honours, Shaw went ahead to win by six lengths. Christchurch Novice Club M. Wildermoth rode well to win the five mile novice handicap from T. Bloomfield by a length, with R. Harrison another length back, third. Results were:— Ten-mile Handicap.—A. Stamper, 28min 55sec 1" B. Creelman, 28min 55.25ec, 2; A. Shaw, 30min 43sec, 3; H. Sutherland, 28min 2sec. 4; D. Harrison, 27min 47.25ec, 5- R. Woodgate, 27min 47.45ec, 6. Fastest time, C. Shaw (scr), 26min 4sec Five-mile Novice Handicap.—M. Wildermoth Qmin), 12min 18sec, 1; T. Bloomfield (Jmin), 12min 33.25ec, 2: R. Harrison (Jmin), 12min 33.45ec. 3; B. Bloomfield (2Jmin), 14min 35sec, 4. Fastest time, D. Houghton (scr), 12min 16sec.
