Man Overboard But Washed Back Again

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, November 22. Washed overboard from the Aberdeen trawler Dorileen off the coast of Aberdeenshire yesterday, John Craig, a 43-year-old deckhand, was searched for by a lifeboat and an aircraft and was reported to his wife as drowned, and then was found beneath the trawler’s boat. He had been flung back by a wave. No-one saw Craig go overboard and when he could not be found, the skipper, John Watson, sent out an S.O.S. and started to search the area. The Peterhead lifeboat and an aircraft from Kinloss joined in the search which had to be abandoned when darkness fell.

The Dorileen then returned to Aberdeen and it was some time after she tied up that Craig recovered and was found by another member of the crew.
