INVESTITURE AT WELLINGTON

DAME HILDA ROSS DECORATED (New Zeaiana Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 22. The investiture held by the Gover-nor-General (Sir Willoughby Norrie) at Government House today was of added interest to Cabinet Ministers present as a colleague, Dame Hilda Ross, and a former colleague. Sir Walter Broadfoot, were decorated. Dame Hilda Ross received the insignia of Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire, while Sir Walter Broadfoot shared with Sir Bernard Ashwin, a former Secretary to the Treasury, the distinction of receiving that of a Knight Commander of the same Order. Also to receive the accolade of knighthood was the retiring Mayor of Wellington, Sir Robert Macalister. While services’ uniforms tended to predominate as usual, men and women from different walks of life were included among those who received honours in the name of the Queen today.
