U.N. Commander Arrives
(Rec. 9.30 p.m.) NAPLES. Nov. 22.
The Canadian commander of the United Nations Police Force in Egypt. Major-General E. L. M. Burns, left today to take over command of his troops.
He was accompanied by the Norwegian Government representative to his staff. Colonel E. O. Djella. and was seen off by United Nations Command and Italian Air Force officers. He left on the second of three Swissair D.C.6B's scheduled to take off today for Abu Sueir airfield.
Today’s flights took 92 Norwegians with equipment and stores. General Burns spent yesterday conferring with local United Nations Command officials and the commanders of national contingents at the staging area.
He also saw high ranking United States naval officers in charge of United States support activities to the United Nations troops. • General Burns stated yesterday that he would set up his headquarters for the moment in Cairo. At present there are about 1000 United Nations troops in Egypt from six nations —Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Colombia, India, and Jugoslavia.
Special U.N. Sessions Cost 400,000 Dollars
(Rec. 9 p.m.) NEW YORK. Nov. 22. The United Nations has had to meet an extra bill of 400.000 dollars to cover the costs of the recent emergency sessions of the General Assembly and the extended meetings of the Se-
curity Council. These emergency sessions and meetings were held to deal with the fighting in the Middle East, involving Britain. France, Israel, and Egypt, and with the Soviet armed 1 intervention in Hungary.
