SALVAGE IN CANAL

Report Made To Commons

(Rec. 11.20 p.m.) LONDON. Nov. 22. The Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty, Mr George Ward, last night gave the House of Commons some details of Suez Canal clearance work. He said that seven salvage vessels and 10 salvage nontoons were now in action in Port Said. The Suez Canal Company’s workshops ashore were being repaired. ‘‘One wreck has already been lifted clear of the proposed channel,” he told a questioner.

The clearance forces were at present concentrating on getting ready for lifting other wrecks, he said.
