TEACHING STAFF AT AVONSIDE
APPOINTMENTS MADE “I think we can count ourselves reasonably fortunate that we can look forward to starting the new year with a full staff,” said the chairman, Dr. George Jobberns, when the board of governors of Avonside Girls’- High School last evening dealt with a number of staff appointments. The Education Department advised that it approved the appointments and the qualifications of the following: Mrs C. M. McColl for a relieving position at the school, and Misses L. A. Steinbergs, E. M. Fraser, C. C. Stevens, and A. I. Ross for permanent positions. Miss M. A. Gabriel wrote accepting an appointment, and the chairman reported that Miss C. M. Levy had also been appointed to a relieving position during 1957. The resignation of Mr D. G. Williams, who has been teaching commercial subjects at the school, from the end of January next year was accepted with regret, and the governors placed on record appreciation of his services. Next year. Mr Williams will take up a post at Samoa College. Mrs N. Z. Dorward, who has had teaching experience in Australia and Great Britajn, has been appointed to take his place.
