Occupational Hazard For Engaged Men
(N2 Press (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON. November 19. A medical defence for men sued for breach of promjse is ' pfpvided by a doctor today. They can claim that they are suffering from engyesia, a newly-discovered nervous disorder, according to the “Daily Express.” ' t. • It is brought on by being engaged to marry and the chief symptoms are anxiety,- depression, insomnia; loss of weight, and inability to oontentrate. Fifty victims were studied by Dr. David Davies at a hospitaL Thirty-one—3o of them men—were so badly affected that they had to be treated as in-patients. Dr. Davies in a medical report said: “The complaint seems mainly to affect men who regret their engagement and develop a guilty feeling because they lack the courage to break it off.”
