More Deaths Reported . NICOSIA, November 18 A British soldier was shot dead in Limassol this afternoon by terrorist gunmen. The first official reports said two gunmen fired at the soldier and his companion on one of the arteria; roads leading into Limassol. The companion was wounded. The gunmen escaped on a motorcycle. In Nicosia, terrorist gunmen today shot and killed a 27-year-old British free lance journalist, Mr Angus McDonald, as he was walking through the city’s notorious “Murder Mile,” scenes of many gun attacks. Mr McDonald was shot through the head from behind. He died later in hospital. He had been interviewing leading Cypriot Greeks on the prospects oi a truce if the new Liberal constitution being drafted by British Jurist Lord Radcliffe, v'ere introduced. Eighty-six Britons have now been killed in Cyprus since the Eoka terror campaign began on April 1 last year Large quantities of arms and ammunition have been captured and a mountain terrorist gang arrested in recent searches in south-west Cyprus, it was officially announced today. Altogether 17 Cypriots were ar rested, including the mountain group The searchers covered a number of villages in the Troodos Mountain.-? area known for its terrorist strongholds.
