MINOR FIRES

At 6.10 p.m. yesterday, one unit from the St. Albans fire station attended a chimney fire at 56 Warrington street. There was no damage. The premises are occupied by Mrs Agatha Duncan. Fire severely damaged a motor garage at 49 Lionel street, Avonside, about 9.30 yesterday morning. A 14-foot caravan which was standing beside the garage was also damaged by the fire. The owner of the property is Mrs Ida Jackson. Units from the Central Fire Station and Woolston attended. No damage was done by an oven fire which occurred at 10.45 a.m. on Saturday in a house at 13 Crohane street. The occupier of the House is Mrs M. Cooper. One unit from Sydenham answered the call. A drive belt was destroyed by a fire in the bitumen plant on the Neuchatel Asphalt Company’s premises in Blenheim road at 11.55‘a.m. on Saturday. A grass fire on the New Brighton foreshore was attended at 11.56 a.m. on Saturday. There was no damage to property.
