GALLOWAYS SOLD AT AUCTION
IMPORTED COW BRINGS 300 GUINEAS
Eight of 10 registered Galloways offered on account of Mr G. A. Rawstron. Rossendale, Halswell. at a displcnishing sale last Saturday were sold at an average price of 229 guineas. The over-all average price for the whole offering, which included a small catalogue of Galloway-Aberdeen Angus cross heifers and cows, was 166gns. Prices ranged up to 300gns for the imported cow, Craigneston Ballerina, with a calf at foot by Aspiring ofc Fork Farm. A heifer, Clare of Rossendale, fetched 290gns. Other females sold at 200gns to 275 gns, and two well-produced stud yearling bulls realised 200 and lOOgns respectively. Details of the principal sales, with buyers’ names in parenthesis, are:—

McDonald, Seddon); Anne of Rossendale (imported in utero), with bull calf at foot, 270gns (Glynn Wye station): Clare of Rossendale, 290gns (B. E. Jessop, Peak Hill, Rakaia Gorge): Cecily of Rossendale, 200gns (R. J. McDonald). Bulls: Defiant of Rossendale, 100;ms (J. S. Hunt and Son, Fork Farm, Wanaka) and Dante of Rossendale, 200gns (H. J- McDonald).
