SECOND GRADE CRICKET “If I may reply briefly to Mr Mappiebeck.— (a) Points of last four teams in 1952-53 season were—second grade A 24. 23, 21. 16; senior grade ♦O, 30, 9, 8. Applying Mr Mappiebeck’s reasoning, senior grade needed pruning far more than second grade A; (b) assuming the competitions committee knew of the loss of players by University, did it make any inquiries as to gain?; (c) under the present rules of the association, the competitions committee, subject to the approval of the management committee, decides what teams shall comprise each grade excepting senior. Delegates have no power in the matter; (d) could Mr Mappiebeck please enlighten us as to when, by whom and for what duration this *policy’ of limiting the number of teams in Second Grade A to eight was determined? And who had power to make it a continuing policy?” —R. BOLAND.
[“My advice to Mr Boland is to raise these matters at a meeting of delegates when matters of policy are discussed,” said Mr W. E. Mappiebeck, convener of the competitions committee.]
