A tribute to the late Sir R. Heaton Rhodes and his services to the Canterbury Museum is paid by the presiri: .. the Association of Friends of the Museum (Mr G. C. C. Sir Heaton Rhodes was a strong supporter of the museum and gave to it some years ago his magnificent collection of postage stamps.” says Mr Sandston. “With him died the last living link with early Canterbury. It is not given to us to have many public men with the background of the squirearchy—men who, with ample estates, choose to devote themselves to a hie of public service; detached, independent, and unfailingly gracious.
