NAMING POLAR PLANE

FLIGHT TO AUCKLAND ON SATURDAY

“The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND, November 16. The City of Auckland Beaver aircraft which is to be taken south by the New Zealand Antarctic expedition will fly from Wigram to Auckland on Saturday morning. It will be a feature of the air pageant to be held at Ardmore on Sunday. During the afternoon the Beaver will be named by the Mayor of Auckland. (Mr J. H. Luxford). The Beaver will be piloted by Squadron Leader J. R. Claydon and Flight Lieutenant W. J. Cranfield. With them will be the two other members of the Antarctic flight. Sergeant W. Tarr and Corporal P. F. Tait. The flights to and from Ardmore will be used as a final navigational exercise before the Beaver is put aboard the Endeavour.
