U.S. To Help Europe Make Up Oil Loss

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright!

(Rec. 8 p.m.) WASHINGTON, November 15. The United States will probably go ahead with emergency plans to help Western Europe meet its oil deficit, once the United Nations police force stabilises the situation in the Middle East, the United Press reported tonight.

The news agency saia that the United States AttorneyGeneral, Mr Herbert Brownell, reluctantly approved provisions of the plan under which 15 American oil companies would pool their resources to help meet British, French and other Allied needs.

Mr Brownell said that the pool plan contained features which “I might well deem objectionable in other circumstances.” However, he said there were not enough tankers in the free world fleet to meet Western Europe’s needs without it.
