WOMEN’S TOURNEY AT NAPIER
AUSTRALIANS WIN ALL MATCHES (New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, Oct. 23. The Australian women’s Tasman Cup team had a convincing win against Manawatu in an invitation golf tournament at the Napier Golf Club's course at Waiohiki this afteroon. The Australians won all games. The highlight of the three-dav tournament, which began this afternoon, was a brilliant 75 by the Australian, Miss M. Masters, who last week won the New Zealand women’s championship at New Plymouth. Taranaki drew with the South Island team, 3-all, and Wellington beat Hawke’s Bay-Poverty Bay by 4 games to 2. Results;— Taranaki v. South Island (Taranaki names first).—Mrs R. Nowell lost to Miss S. Grigg, 4 and 3; Miss T. Stallard lost to Miss N. Campbell, 4 and 3; Mrs B Jonas lost to Miss B. Murray, 5 and 3; Mrs K. Lupton beat Miss P. Stafford, 3 and 1; Mrs P. August beat Miss A. Caldwell, 1 up; Mrs F. Chapman beat Miss W. Morgan, 1 up. Wellington v. Hawke’s Bay-Poverty Bay (Wellington names first).—Mrs J. P. Hornabrook lost to Mrs A. Mullany, 3 and 1; Mrs V. S. Land beat Mrs M. Kaua, 1 up; Miss J. Hornabrook beat Miss Bell, 4 and 2; Mrs W. K. Mulholland beat Mrs M. August, 4 and 2; Mrs M. Buddle lost to Miss M. Haisman, 2 up; Miss E. McKenzie beat Miss K. Butler, 1 up.
