FURTHER DETAILS OF INCREASES

Details of the. increased postage rates and changes have been received at the Christchurch Chief Post Office.

In addition to the increases already announced in a Press Association message from Wellington by the Post-master-General (Mr T. P. Shand) the registration fee is increased from 6d to 9d to all places inland and overseas; the present rate of 3d an article for household circulars is increased to Id for each article not exceeding two ounces; and inland packet rates are increased from 3d for six ounces to 4d for the first eight ounces and as a consequence of the first step being extended from six to eight ounces, packets up to two ounces will be admissable at the letter rate of postage, namely one ounce 3d. two ounces 4d. A “letter” or “letter packet” label is to be affixed to such packages which will be included in letter mails.
