WOOD PRESERVERS’ INSTITUTE
ANNUAL MEETING AT ROTORUA
The annual meeting of the National Institute of Wood Preservers was held at Rotorua. The president (Mr J. J. Jackson, of Auckland), in his address, referred to the Timber Preservation Authority and the work it had accomplished since its appointment in 1955. The Timber Preservation Authority could make a very real contribution to the timber preservation industry by maintaining high standards of treatment and creating the confidence of users, said Mr Jackson.
The meeting passed a resolution recommending to the incoming executive that steps be taken to arrange for the promulgation of information on timber preservation, particularly to those sections of industry and the community which can use treated timbers to advantage. It was also recommended that, where possible, opportunity should be taken to arrange a series of addresses on timber preservation to local bodies and other interested parties.
The following were elected to the executive council: Mr J. J. Jackson <Auckland). Mr C. G. W. Mason (Wellington). Mr C. E. Jones (Tokoroa). Mr A. L. Brasell (Wanganui), Professor F. P. Worley: with a further nomination still to be received. Mr Jackson was re-elected president.
