JIGGER HITS TRAIN IN TUNNEL

(From Ow Own Reporter) REEFTON, October 15. A railwav bridgeman suffered head Injuries, and later died in Reeffnn Hospital, when the jigger on which he was travelling struck a stationary in a tunnel on the ReeftonMawheraiti line at 1.25 p.m. today. He was James Richard Sara, aged 46. single, of Reefton. The jigger on which Mr Sara was travelling with Mr L. W. Smith, a bridgeman. of Reefton. was following a train which left Reefton at 1.9 o.m. The train stormed in the tunnel, about one third of the distnee from Reefton. because the banking engine burst an air hose. The jigger hit the banking engine. Mr Smith suffered shock but was not injured. An inquest will be opened tomorrow.
