Israeli-French Pact Urged
(Rec. 8 p.m.) JAFFA (Israel), Oct. 2. Mr Menahim Begin, leader of the Cherut (Freedom) Party, last night called for a formal alliance between Israel and France on the basis of mutual interests between the two countries.
In a policy address to his party’s fourth convention, the former commander of the anti-British terrorist organisation. Irgun Tzvai Leumi, said that a treaty of alliance with France could be based on true interests.
Mr Begin called upon the Israel Government to renew the Israeli peoples’ invitation to the French Foreign Minister, Mr Pineau, to come to Israel, “where he would be received by the masses with respect and enthusiasm as the representative oi the great French Republic.”
