N.Z. CAR CLUBS CONFER
ASSOCIATION ELECTS OFFICERS CHAMPIONSHIP DATES ALLOCATED (New Zealand Press Association > PALMERSTON NORTH, August 26. All the 36 car clubs of New Zealand were represented at the annual conference of the Association of New Zealand Car Clubs in Palmerston North. During the last season, nine new clubs had affiliated with the association, which was now recognised by the Royal Automobile Club as the controlling authority for the sport in New Zealand, said the president (Mr P. L. Lupp), in his annual report. < It was agreed to enter into reciprocal control arrangements with the New Zealand Auto-cycle Union and I the Confederation of Australian 1 Motor Sport. The fourth New Zealand Grand Prix will be held at Ardmore, on January 12, 1957. Other championships were allocated as follows: New Zealand championship road race. Southland Sports Car Club; New Zealand championship hill climb. Waikato Motorracing Club; New Zealand championship trial, Hamilton Car Club. The following major race dates were arranged by the organising clubs: Levin circuit racing, October 22; Christchurch road race, December 8; Levin circuit racing, January 19; Wigram Trophy race, January 26; Dunedin road race, February 2; New Zealand championship road race, February 16; Mairehau road race, February 23; Levin circuit racing, April 20 and June 8. The following officers were elected: patron, the Governor-General (Sir Willoughby Norrie); president, Mr P. L. Lupp (Dunedin); vice-president, Mr I. A Parton (Auckland); secre-tary-treasurer, Mr J. C. Gordon; chief steward, Mr J. O. Trevor (South Otago); executive committee, Messrs J. Brewer (Motor Racing Club), A. Stafford (Wellington), and L. Powell (Northern Sports Car Club).
