3S PROFIT ON £2 INVESTMENT
Anvone who invested £1 each way on the Te Koi-Rowan Star bracket in the National Handicap at Addington on Saturday showed a profit of 3s. Te Koi won the race and paid £1 9s fid for a win and only 13s 6d for a place. The place investment is thought to be the shortest ever returned at Addington since win and place betting started. The reason for the short place price was that investors thought both horses in the bracket would be placed, but Rowan Star collided with another horse and took no part in the After Te Koi’s place dividend was posted there was much unfavourable comment, many persons claiming that Investors should at least receive their money back‘when they made a winning bet. Some suggested that the United States system, which guarantees a profit of up to 10 per cent, on all investments, should be adopted in New Zealand.
