The man is Victor Ivanovitch Petrov, a translator. The United States made the espionage charges against him. Petrov left the United States yesterday. Mr Hammarskjold described Pet; rov’s activities as “not permitted’ under the United Nations staff regulations on standards of conduct. The United States delegation at United Nations headquarters said that Petrov's dismissal came after consideration by Mr Hammarskjold qf information given him by the United States Department of State. “The information.” it said, “was based on evidence furnished by the Department of Justice that Petrov had attempted to obtain information vital to the security and defence of the United States.”
