MAGISTRATE’S COURT
SATURDAY (Before Mr L. C. Fulford. J.P., and Mr A. S. Ward, J.P.) REMANDED Dorothy Skipper, aged 17. a factory hand, who was on remand on a charge of being idle and disorderly in that she had insufficient lawful visible means of support, was further remanded to August 30 on a charge of escaping from lawful custody. Sub-Inspector J. C. Fletcher, for the police, said that Skipper had apparently walked out of the Templeton • institution to which she had been i sent. Rangi Hotchie Matakatea, aged 42, a carpenter, charged with breaking and entering the dwelling of Kenneth Richard Hastings Neville, at 14 Rochdale street, on August 24, with intent to commit a crime, was remanded to appear on August 30. Bail was opposed by Senior-Detec-tive J. B. McLean, who said that the accused had been charged with an offence that was becoming fairly common. Eric Rangitapua Solomon, aged 33. a linesman, charged with driving a motor-car in Cranford street on August 24 when under the influence of liquor or drugs, was remanded to September 3 on bail of £25 and one surety of £25.
